Data recovery from external and portable usb hard drives.
Tri-State Data Recovery & Forensics, LLC
specializes in recovery data from external usb or portable hard drives. The most common cause of data loss on an external hard drive is caused from the drive being dropped. Usually a clicking or beeping sound will be heard from the drive and it will no longer be recognized by the computer operating system. Clean room repair is required 90% of time in such cases. Do not continue to power the drive on or tamper with it if you have experienced this.Western digital passport and seagate goflex drives are very popular portable hard drives and can be recovered easily in most cases if the drive isn't tampered with after the damage has been done. External HDD Data Recovery
What is Data Recovery and who is qualified to perform it? While many companies claim to be qualified not many have had proper training. Your external hard drive will only be worked on by me, a qualified "Data Recovery Expert" certified engineer. Visit my Blog for detailed information on the recovery process and my FaceBook page for pictures of drives I have worked on in my class 10 clean room.
Forensics
It is very difficult to find someone qualified, trustworthy, and specialized in digital forensics. Most of the principles and techniques are the same as data recovery aside from using hardware like write-blockers to protect the integrity and credibility of the captured data. We provide a reliable, cost effective, rapid, and credible service to the industry.

Common External Hard Drive problems
Clicking Hard Drive data recovery
If you hear your drive clicking, clunking, beeping, buzzing, grinding, or making any abnormal sounds do not attempt to run any software on it or continue to power it on. Shut the drive off immediately and call a professional. Visit my sounds page to listen to some sounds that damaged hard drives make.In most cases this is a good sign that you will need a level 3 recovery to replaced damaged heads. It can also be a seized motor, stiction, dirty heads, or even other problems.
Dropped Hard Drive data recovery
A huge portion of drives that come in for recovery are from physical abuse. When a laptop or external hard drive is dropped this usually causes some kind of physical damage. Most cases of dropped drives turn out to need head replacements, which is also a level 3 recovery.Virus corruption or accidental format data recovery
When a virus has corrupted your operating system causing the system to no longer boot up this is considered a level 1 or logical data recovery. There is nothing physically wrong with the drive and a clean room repair is not needed in cases like this.I/O errors data recovery
Disk read errors data recovery
Windows blue screen errors data recovery
If you are having I/O device errors, disk read errors, or your computer is blue screening there is a good possibility that your hard drive has developed numerous bad sectors. In cases like these the likelyhood of recovery is normally very good if the drive is not continuously tampered with causing more problems. Special hardware is needed to read bad sectors. Using software on drives like this will cause more damage. The only time software should ever be used is if the drive has no physical problems and the data loss is stricly a logical problem.RAID data Recovery
If you suddenly experienced RAID failure it's very important to stop at once, label the drives in the correct order of the ARRAY and contact a professional. Normally one or more drives have failed bringing the entire RAID down. These can be very complicated to recover from depending on how many drives are in the ARRAY and what type of damage has been done. After the repair has been completed the entire ARRAY must be rebuilt before the data can be recovered.Worldwide Data Recovery Services
